He pointed at the stars.
See them? They eventually die, too.
I pretended to smile, but inside I was crying.
I thought the stars lived forever.
You always liked to remind me that reality is harsh.
I saw a box on the side of the street.
I heard the cries of kittens inside.
He held me back. Leave them. Theyll die, too.
Later that day, I went back [alone] and saved them.
You always had a dark outlook on life.
One day, he was perfect.
Full of sunshine kisses and sweet words.
I asked why. I dont see the dark, he said.
Then he held me and I forgot how to speak.
You always thought words werent enough.
Days later, he said he was leaving.
Whats the point? Well die in the end.
Then he was gone.
Vanished like smoke in the wind.
You always thought you were doomed.
That night, I looked at the stars.
Glowing shining bursting in the sky.
I decided then that he would be one of the stars to die tonight.
I saw a star wink out of existence and never glow again.
You were right but oh so wrong.
